Monthly Meetings
In our monthly meetings, where we are limited to a maximum of 130 attendees, we use both the church and the adjoining hall. We gather in the hall until the doors through to the church open at 1.30pm. Our guest speakers then present their talks in the church itself. During this time, the doors to the hall will be kept locked. Afterwards, we enjoy a cup of tea and a biscuit back in the hall. We have a limited number of parking spaces for blue badge holders in the church car park.

Upcoming Meetings
Air Traffic Control – 21st November 2024
Speaker – Nicky Patterson
Nicky Paterson is a Ranger leader by night and an Air Traffic Controller by day at Manchester Airport, where she works both as a tower and approach controller. The talk will take us through a day in the life of this hugely important role.
Memories of the 50s – 12th December 2024 – PLEASE NOTE THE DATE.
Speaker – Malcolm Macfarlane
Malcolm will be reminding us of popular culture in the 50s. We will go on a journey down Memory Lane with plenty of fun and opportunities to sing along to well-remembered music.
My life in crime – 16th January 2025
Speaker – Simon Michael
Simon Michael, a retired barrister and author of crime novels, gives us an engaging account of his career in the law. He reveals some of the personal problems he encountered along the way and some aspects of his professional work.
They should’ve asked me husband – 20th February 2025
Speaker – Sue Holden
Sue is a past lawyer, present entertainer and (aspirational) future public speaker who seeks to inform with humour. She has been entertaining people for as long as she can remember and worked as a lawyer for slightly less a time, (36 years). Sue’s humorous talk tells about some of the characters and incidents of her childhood.
Airborn – 20th March 2025
Speaker – John Wallace
We welcome the return of this excellent speaker, with the true story of two Second World War Spitfire pilots, re-united after their deaths by a million-to-one coincidence that spanned the world from Lincolnshire to the Mid-West of the USA.
‘Air Born’, by John Wallace, is the story of John Gillespie Magee, who wrote the celebrated poem, ‘High Flight’, and his friend and fellow pilot, Dwayne Linton.
