We meet on the first Thursday of the month, 10.30am at a member’s house where one of us will
give a talk on a person of interest (not just kings and queens), an historic event or a less well-known event, which we will then discuss.

Our talks, so far, have included: What the Romans Did For Us,  Lindow Man (you remember “Pete Marsh” the body in the bog in Wilmslow?) and Hadrians’ Wall.

We are a very friendly and enthusiastic group.  If you would like to join us, and are prepared to give one or two talks per year on your pet history subjects, don’t hold back email with “History 2 enquiry” as the subject.

The picture (right) is from the History II  group outing to Hardwick Hall, in October 2025.  This Hall is the culmination of personal taste and ambition of of Elizabeth, Countess of Shrewsbury (fondly known as Bess of Hardwick).
