Report December 2011
The group consists of 7 members. The majority have not studied Spanish before, though a couple of students are treating it as a refresher course. Everyone seems enthusiastic. The group meets every two weeks, from 2 – 4 pm on Thursdays. The meetings are held at the home of each member in turn. The aim of the class is for members to learn enough Spanish to help them deal with everyday situations on a visit to a Spanish speaking country. We follow the BBC course book España Viva, which deals with situations such as eating out, shopping, asking the way, using public transport and taking part in simple conversations. We also use recorded material linked to the course and additional worksheets to help consolidate what students have learnt. This is a new group and as yet, we have held only 2 meetings, so it is a little early to talk about achievements!
