We have 10 members all female, but male members would be most welcome.

It’s an informal friendly group who “knit and natter” but much more. Individuals bring to the group many different skills related e.g. machine knitting, crochet, swiss darning, collage work in wool.

We exchange knitting patterns and teach other techniques. We have a member who couldn’t knit and has now completed a set of doll’s clothes.

Some members knit toys and baby wear for charity and recently we have made knitted coats for featherless hens!

This photograph is of the 53 teddies knitted by the group. These are to be put in Disaster Boxes ready to go out to people who have lost everything and give the children something to love, hug and hold on to. Believe it or not, they are only just getting round to putting up temporary tented schools in Haiti as these things seem to move exceedingly slowly. Disaster boxes are filled and stored all year round, year on year as unfortunately disasters always seem to be happening world wide.

Report December 2011

The Knitting Group has 11 enthusiastic members who meet once a month to knit and natter and lots more. The completed Bramhall U3A knitted panel, which depicts a variety of U3A groups, has been on show at several of the Bramhall monthly meetings and featured in the Spring U3A News Magazine. As well as individual projects the group has continued to support charities. Knitted squares were given to St Georges Church for their African Charity. Teddy Bears have been knitted for inclusion in the boxes sent by Rotary to disaster areas. The Stepping Hill Premature Baby Unit has received baby knitwear and blankets from the group. Our latest charity effort was the production of approximately 150 knitted poppies which raised £170 for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal. We continue to share techniques, exchange patterns and ideas and support charities.
