Report December 2011
We are a group of about 12 people, who take it in turns to host meetings in each others houses on the fourth Wednesday morning in the month at 10.30am. in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Average attendance at meeting is 8/10 people when we discuss the films that we have seen at the cinema in the previous month. Most of us see the films individually but some go with a friend or another member of the group. The aim of the group is to see as wide a variety of films as we can, including films in foreign languages with sub-titles, not just rom-coms (boy meets girl) or "feel good movies", to broaden our minds. Most members do not want to see films specifically made to horrify, but we have seen some that have been challenging to watch and were pleased that we had. If we knew what a film was like before we saw it would be easy to choose but we have learned that film critics write-ups can be very misleading. We have found that choosing two or even three films gives us plenty of choice. Sometimes members have not managed to see them all, but this does not matter as we all enjoy hearing the discussions.
