It was decided to have an early dinner at local venues during the Winter, then when the better weather and lighter evenings arrive, we will venture further afield and possibly do lunch or afternoon tea. |
Venue | Local restaurants. 3rd week of the month |

There are 63 members of this group. Our first venture was to EgoÂ’s in Bramhall where 23 members of the group enjoyed good food and company. Since then we have been to Wings, Pinewood Hotel, Bridge Hotel & Staneylands.
The first outings have been arranged by the two group leaders but it is envisaged that all members of the group will take a turn at organising a group meal at a venue of their choice, rather than always leave it to the same people.
December 2021 Report: View
The long break of two years in our activities needed to be ended in some way so when we were allowed to meet up in reasonable numbers outside in July 2021,
I decided to hold a get-together in my garden. I could not manage our usual two course meal, but home-made cakes & tea I can do.
With the help of a small marquee 14 came along one day and 16 the other. It was a great relief to be meeting up with friends, there was a constant chatter of conversation and we all enjoyed it.
We made a collection for Wellspring. I think I may do another ‘garden party’ next year perhaps August.
We are now returning to normal – about 25 -30 meeting Tuesday and Wednesday evenings alternately.
We returned first to Tang’s Chinese in September 21, always popular, Romulus the Italian restaurant in October,
November the Farmers’ Arms in Poynton and we celebrated Christmas at the Wycliffe in Edgeley. All the restaurant welcomed us back warmly and provided us with excellent and varied food for us.
In January and February we will be holding lunches. People who belong to the group are informed of venues and book monthly, usually choosing from menus in advance.

December 2019 Report: View
Jan Boys and Vera Moore continue to run the group, Jan making initial contacts with restaurants and Vera sending out information, mainly by email, and also collecting in bookings and making payment to restaurants We hold meetings on alternate Tuesdays and Wednesdays of each month except August and December, usually in the evenings. In January we held a lunchtime meeting and it was well received. We visited 9 different venues. Tang’s Chinese restaurant was revisited following requests. A new addition ‘The Silk Road’ in Bramhall proved very successful. We try to vary the range of restaurants visited and to visit new arrivals in our area. Suggestions are always welcome. An average of about 23 members attend. Of course the social element of the evenings is very important. There is always a pleasant atmosphere and a warm welcome is extended to new faces. Vera Moore
